Lemus Scores Twice As Pacers Shutout Monarchs

CARY, NC -- William Peace University men's soccer picked up a big conference win over Methodist University by a score of 2-0. Jorge Lemus would put the Pacers up 1-0 just over halfway through the first half. Lemus would then score again with just a second remaining in the game to secure a 2-0 win for WPU.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first half, the Pacers would take control early, with Danny Alvarez getting a shot off just a minute into the game. The Pacers would dominate the early game, and a cross from Kieron Williams would find Jorge Lemus, who would tuck one away to put the Pacers up 1-0 at 28:53. The Pacers would continue to control the game, and would lead 1-0 heading into halftime.

Ivan Ponce would get two early chances in the second half, but his shot would go just wide. The Monarchs would put some pressure on the Pacer defense, but Jacob Smith would stop Hudson Zeisman's chance at 51:19 to keep the game at 1-0. Donnie Leahy would nearly score off his own rebound at 80:25, but Monarch goalkeeper Cole Hupp would make an impressive stop. In the final seconds of the game, the Pacers would quickly set up a final chance, with Jorge Lemus scoring with just one second remaining, assisted by Danny Alvarez, to bring the final score to 2-0 in favor of WPU>
