Pacers Split The Day As They Look Ahead To Conference Tournament

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University volleyball split the final day of regular season play 1-1 with a 3-0 win over Methodist and a 3-2 loss to Greensboro. The Pacers finish the regular season as the #3 seed and will head to Meredith College on November 2nd for the Quarterfinals of the USA South Conference Tournament. Game time is set for 7:30PM.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE - METHODIST UNIVERSITY
Set One (25-13)
The Pacers would dominate the first set, going on a 7-point run to lead 7-0 with kills from Landis Limon and Shelby Cooper. A 5-point run with kills from Limon and Kelsey Bierbauer would increase the score to 15-2. A kill from Hannah Collier would put the Pacers up 20-8, with Kelsey Bierbauer putting up the final kill for a 25-13 win.

Set Two (25-13)
In set two, the Pacers would take a 5-3 lead with blocks from Landis Limon and Shelby Cooper. A service ace from Cooper would bring the score to 9-5, while two aces from Hannah Ward would increase the lead to 12-7. Kills from Shelby Cooper and Hannah Collier would put the Pacers up 20-11, while a final 5-point run with 3 aces from Cooper would end the set 25-13.

Set Three (25-18)
The Pacers would take a 4-0 lead in the final set, with two service aces from Vivian Camplin bringing the score to 8-2. Two aces from Logan Moore and a kill by Madeline Simpson would increase the lead to 14-7, while an ace from Hannah Ward would bring the score to 17-10. A kill from Madeline Simpson would put the Pacers up 23-16, and they would close the set 25-18 to win 3-0 over the Monarchs.

GAME TWO - GREENSBORO COLLEGE

Set One (25-22)
The Pacers would take a 4-3 lead in set one on a block from Landis Limon and Kelsey Bierbauer. A service ace from Hannah Ward would put them ahead 10-7, while a kill from Mackenzie Russell would tie it 17-17 as the Pride battled back. A late 4-point run with kills by Georgia Grace Anderson, Madeline Simpson, and Mackenzie Russell would finish the set 25-22.

Set Two (25-12)
The Pacers would dominate set two, going on a 5-0 lead with three kills from Hannah Collier. A 6-point run would put them up 11-1 as Landis Limon notched 4 kills, while another kill from Collier gave them a 17-5 lead. A kill from Madeline Simpson would bring the score to 21-8, while a final kill from Hannah Collier would end the set 25-12.

Set Three (23-25)
The Pacers would lead 6-1 in set two with two aces from Mackenzie Russell and kills from Landis Limon, Shelby Cooper, and Madeline Simpson. A kill from Hannah Collier would put them up 15-11, while blocks from Mackenzie Russell and Georgia Grace Anderson would bring the score to 20-15. The Pride would battle back to tie the set 23-23, and would take the final two points to win 25-23 and bring the game to 2-1.
 
Set Four (20-25)
The Pride would battle back in set four, taking an early 8-6 lead. A kill from Shelby Cooper would tie it 10-10, while a kill by Madeline Simpson would put the Pacers up 16-15. However, the Pride would go on two runs to lead 24-18, and would put away the final point to win 25-20 and tie the game 2-2.

Set Five (12-15)
In the final set, Greensboro would get out to a 4-1 advantage over the Pacers. A kill from Hannah Collier would cut their lead to 8-5, while blocks from Madeline Simpson and Landis Limon and a kill by Georgia Grace Anderson would bring the score to 13-10 as the Pacers battled back, but the Pride would keep fighting to win the set 15-11 and the game 3-2.
