Volleyball Concludes Season In USA South Quarterfinals

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University volleyball completed their season in the USA South Conference Tournament Quarterfinals, where they fell 3-0 to Meredith College. The Pacers finished the year 19-13 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One (17-25)
In the first set, Meredith would get out to an early 4-1 lead over the Pacers. A kill from Landis Limon would cut Meredith's lead as the Pacers trailed 7-4, but the Avenging Angels would go on a 5 point run to lead 12-4. A block from Landis Limon would keep the Pacers in the set as they trailed 19-11, with a 3-point run with kills by Hannah Collier and Georgia Grace Anderson and a service ace from Vivian Camplin bringing the score to 22-16 as the Pacers continued to battle, but Meredith would take a 25-17 win in set one.

Set Two (22-25)
A kill from Kelsey Bierbauer would tie set two 3-3, with an ace from Shelby Cooper putting them up 6-5. The set would continue to go back-and-forth, with a kill by Hannah Collier tying it 10-10. A kill by Landis Limon would again tie the set 17-17, with a service ace from Vivian Camplin putting them up 19-18. The Pacers would tie it 22-22, but Meredith would take the last three points to win 25-22 and lead the game 2-0.

Set Three (23-25)
In the final set, the Avenging Angels would take a strong 8-3 lead early. A kill by Landis Limon would put the Pacers within 2 as they trailed 9-7, but a 6-point run would put Meredith ahead 15-7. A 4-point run with kills from Jordan Juanes and blocks from Chassie Jacops and Landis Limon putting the Pacers within 3 as they trailed 19-16. Meredith would take a late 24-21 lead, and despite good effort from the Pacers, they would take a 25-23 win in the set to win the game 3-0.

PACER TOP PERFORMERS FOR THE FOES
  • Whitney Bolton and Avery Bowman led Meredith with 9 kills.
  • Bailey Lucas tallied 18 assists.
