Pacers Fall In 4 To Meredith

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University volleyball fell to Meredith College 3-1. The Pacers now move to 17-11 overall and 12-3 in the conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One (25-22)
In set one, Meredith would get out to an early 4-2 lead. The Avenging Angels would take a 10-6 lead over the Pacers. A 3-point run with kills by Kelsey Bierbauer and Georgia Grace Anderson and a service ace from Hannah Ward would bring the Pacers within one as they trailed 16-15. The Pacers would go on a late 5-point run to lead 22-19. A final kill by Georgia Grace Anderson would secure the set 25-22 for the Pacers.

Set Two (24-26)
Set two would be tied 4-4 early with a service ace from Hannah Collier. A kill by Shelby Cooper would tie the set 12-12 as Meredith battled to take control. The Pacers would go on a 4-point run to lead 18-16, but Meredith would go on a 3-point run to lead 23-20. Kills by Shelby Cooper would help tie the set 24-24, but the Avenging Angels would take the final two points to win 26-24 and tie the game 1-1.

Set Three (20-25)
The Pacers would get off to a strong start in the third set to lead 4-1. Kills by Hannah Collier and Georgia Grace Anderson would give them a 9-5 lead. Two service aces by Mackenzie Russell would bring the score to 13-9, while a kill from Georgia Grace Anderson would put the Pacers ahead 18-15. Meredith would go on an impressive 9-point kill to lead 24-18, and would grab the final point to win 25-20 and take a 2-1 lead in the game.

Set Four (25-18)
Meredith would take an early 4-0 lead in the final set before jumping out to lead 8-4. A kill by Hannah Collier would cut the lead down to 13-7, but the Avenging Angels would continue to control the set to lead 20-11. The Pacers would battle back, with a kill by Shelby Cooper bringing the score to 24-18, but Meredith would take the final point to win 25-18 in the set and 3-1 in the match.

PACER TOP PERFORMERS FOR THE FOES
  • Whitney Bolton tallied 17 kills for Meredith.
  • Lauren Phillips led the team with 27 digs.
