Pacers Take Down Mary Baldwin On Senior Night

CARY, NC -- William Peace University men's soccer defeated Mary Baldwin University 3-1. The Pacers also honored seniors Jacob Smith, Nathan Seery, Jose Aguirre, Sammy Suazo, Archie Filliter, Ivan Ponce, and Bloody Samlouius on Senior Night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pacers would dominate the early game, with Sammy Suazo and Ivan Ponce putting shots on goalkeeper Obdulio Argueta just seven minutes in. At 11:09, Bloody Samlouius would make an excellent cross to find Ivan Ponce, who would tuck it away to put the Pacers up 1-0. This also marked Ponce's 10th goal of the season. Jorge Lemus would get a few good chances at 32:04, but Argueta would keep the Pacers from adding to their lead. However, Lemus would find the back of the net at 44:33, assisted by Josiah Caronna, to send the Pacers into halftime leading 2-0.

Mary Baldwin would battle back at the start of the second half as they began to control possession. Stephen Blair would find a way for the Fighting Squirrels at 56:54 to cut the Pacer lead down to 2-1. Jacob Smith would make a few key saves to keep Mary Baldwin from tying it up. The Pacers would begin to find their game at the end of the half, with Jorge Lemus adding his second of the night at 87:49 to secure a 3-1 win for the Pacers.
