Pacers Take Down Battling Bishops 3-1

ROCKY MOUNT, NC -- William Peace University men's soccer defeated N.C. Wesleyan College 3-1. The Pacers would go up 2-0 in the first half with goals from TJ Hurd and Jorge Lemus, with a goal from Archie Filliter in the second half putting them up 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pacers would control the early game, with a shot from outside the 18 by TJ Hurd making it's way past the NCWC goalkeeper to put the Pacers up 1-0 at 8:09. At 13:45, Jorge Lemus would tally his 9th goal of the season to increase the Pacer lead to 2-0. Jacob Smith would shut down Juan Simoniello at 18:15 to keep NCWC off the board. Smith would make another late save at 37:12 to send the Pacers into halftime leading 2-0.

The Pacers would continue to dominate in the second half, with Archie Filliter scoring off a free kick opportunity at 57:46 to give WPU a 3-0 lead. NCWC would be awarded a penalty kick at 60:00, but Jacob Smith would keep Juan Simoniello from scoring to keep the Pacers ahead 3-0. The Battling Bishops would get on the board at 86:26 as Simoniello would score from outside the box as the game became physical. The Pacers would continue to hold the edge and would take a 3-1 win over the Battling Bishops.
