Men's Soccer Takes Down Falcons In High-Scoring Contest

MISENHEIMER, NC -- William Peace University men's soccer Pfeiffer University 5-4 in a back-and-forth USA South Conference matchup. The Pacers now improve to 7-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The start of the game would be a physical back-and-forth, with Ivan Ponce putting a shot on Falcon goalkeeper Ali Jaafar just five minutes in. A free kick taken by Jorge Aguilar would find Ivan Ponce, who would head it in at 19:54 to put the Pacers up 1-0. The Falcons would even the score 1-1 at 31:39 as some traffic in front of the net would allow Caleb Livengood to head it in. Bloody Samlouius would give the Pacers a 2-1 lead at 39:02 as he crashed the net to score after a shot rebounded in front, and the Pacers would head into halftime leading 2-1.

In the second half, Kieron Williams would draw a penalty kick for the Pacers as he had a great breakaway opportunity. Danny Alvarez would take the kick and would put one away to bring the score to 3-1 in favor of the Pacers at 57:41. However, a cross from Jean Bah would find Caleb Bratager at 60:56 as the Falcons battled back to trail by just one. At 64:11, Bah would again make a key play to find Nico Soriano, who would tie the game 3-3. The Falcons would then get their own penalty kick chance at 71:00, and Sam Stewart would put Pfeiffer up 4-3. Moments later, the Pacers would tie it up 4-4 after a service in would hit a Pfeiffer defender. At 78:21, a corner kick taken by Archie Filliter would find Rush Campbell in front, who would head it in to take back the Pacer lead by a score of 5-4. The Pacers would finish the game strong to defeat the Falcons 5-4.
