Pacers Continue To Impress With 20th Win Of The Season

The William Peace University women's basketball team secured their 20th victory of the season with a (74-58) win over Meredith College. The Pacers would take an early lead in the first quarter, with Mikayla Ray and Sydney Austin leading the team offensively. In the third quarter, WPU began to pull away and led (63-39) heading into the final quarter, where the team continued to hold the advantage to win (74-58).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cierra Baker would tally the first points of the game as she gave WPU a (3-0) lead with a shot from behind the arc. The Angels would take a brief (6-3) lead over the Pacers before a shot from the foul line by Mariah Partin would tie it (6-6). A jump shot by Lauryn Cross would bring the score to (8-6), while Khadijah Daniels and Mikayla Ray would give the Pacers a (16-8) advantage heading into the second quarter.
  • Meredith would go on a run early in the second before Jaymesha Sanders would drive under the net to keep the Pacers in the lead (20-15). Mikayla Ray would add a layup and a few made free throws to bring the score to (28-18), while Sydney Austin would add several free throws to send the game into halftime with a Pacer lead of (36-25).
  • Mariah Partin and Lauryn Cross would get the ball rolling for WPU in the third quarter as the Pacers continued to lead (41-27). Cierra Baker's layup would give the Pacers a 21-point advantage (53-32), while Sydney Austin's consecutive layups brought the score to (61-35) in favor of the Pacers. Khadijah Daniels would end the quarter with two made free throws for a (63-39) Pacer lead.
  • The Pacers continued to hold the offensive edge in the final quarter as Eva Holloway's jumper brought the score to (65-41). Holloway would add another jumper and a layup as the Pacers led (69-45). Yamila Emanuel's layup would bring the score to (71-49). Another layup by Emanuel would prove to be the final points of the game as the Pacers clinched their 20th win by a score of (74-58).

PACER TOP PERFORMERS
  • Mikayla Ray led the Pacers with 14 points as she went 5 for 8 from the field.
  • Sydney Austin added 13 points and 8 rebounds.

FOR THE FOES
  • Kimberly Schuh recorded a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds.
  • Kate Perko recorded a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

STATS OF THE GAME
  • The Pacers shot 40.3% from the field in comparison to Meredith's 33.8%.
  • WPU tallied 43 boards in comparison to Meredith's 46.
