Pacers Fall In First Game Of Series Against Greensboro

Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University baseball team fell in  to Greensboro College in the first game of their weekend series. The Pride now take a (1-0) lead in the series.

  • Records: William Peace (8-2) (0-1), Greensboro College (6-4)(1-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first inning of the game would go by quickly and see both sides through a scoreless inning. In the second inning, the Pacers would grab the first point of the game as Logan Barbour's hit would bring home Hunter Ward (1-0). Logan Barbour would come home moments later, as a hit from Jackson May would see Logan back to the home plate (2-1). The Lions would then retaliate as Kendal Tucke would bring it home for Greensboro College. Both pitchers would have the batters stunned as the score remained (2-1) throughout the third, fourth, and fifth innings.

In the sixth inning, the Pacers would find the home plate again with a hit from Tate Proctor and an easy run in by Gavin Taylor (3-1). Greensboro would have a big sixth inning as they captured 5 runs Greensboro to not only take the lead but to leave a hard gap for the Pacers to jump over (6-3). In the seventh inning the Pacers would get on base but were unable to score. The Lions would get one more in the seventh to lead (7-3), and the Pacers were unable to gain any momentum as they fell (7-3).

  • Jamar Ellis recorded 2 RBIs as he went 1 for 4 at the plate.
  • Parker Strader was on the mound for 7 innings as he tallied 7 strikeouts.

NEXT GAME
The Pacers will remain in Greensboro to continue their 3-game series against the Pride. Game two is scheduled for February 29th at 3 PM.
