Men's Basketball Wins 4th In A Row As They Take Down Huntingdon

The William Peace University men's basketball team defeated Huntingdon College in a USA South Conference match-up by a score of (80-77). 

THE BASICS
  • Final score: William Peace 80, Huntingdon 77
  • Records: William Peace (11-11) (9-5), Huntingdon (10-12) (7-8)
  • Location: Montgomery, AL

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pacers would get on the board almost immediately, as Donolly Tyrell Jr. was fouled and put up a free throw (1-0). John Burwell would increase the Pacer lead as he battled for two consecutive layups (5-2). Camden Ferguson's shot from downtown would bring the score to (8-2) in favor of WPU. Tyson Sellers would put up two back-to-back threes for a (14-7) lead.
  • Trey Bryant would add a few points with a free throw and a layup to extend the Pacer lead (20-13). The Hawks would battle back to bring it within  three (25-22) but Donolly Tyrell Jr. would draw a foul on a made layup to widen the gap (28-22). Trey Bryant's dunk would keep WPU in the lead (30-28), while tyson Sellers would add two shots from the foul line to send the Pacers leading (39-37) into the half.
  • Camden Ferguson would be fouled early in the second half on a 3-pointer attempt and he would make all three shots from the foul line to give WPU a (46-42) advantage. Ferguson would add a shot from behind the arc (51-44), while Trey Bryant's shots from the foul line kept WPU in the lead (54-48).
  • The Hawks would battle back within 1 (60-59) before Trey Bryant and Camden Ferguson could put a few points back on the board (63-59). John Burwell would drive under the net to give the Pacers a 10-point cushion (69-59). Trey Bryant would get his 2nd dunk of the game to put the Pacers ahead (73-64). The Hawks would start rolling to bring the score within just one point (73-72), but Bryant would grab the last points of the game to secure the Pacer win (80-77).

PACER TOP PERFORMERS
  • Trey Bryant posted a double-double with 29 points and 11 rebounds as he went 10 for 12 from the field.
  • John Burwell contributed 20 points and 4 rebounds.

FOR THE FOES
  • Damen Madison led the Hawks with 23 points.
  • Jacob Champion notched 16 points and 6 rebounds.
 
STATS OF THE GAME
  • The Pacers shot at 49.1% from the field in comparison to the Hawks' 45.2%.
  • WPU shot at an impressive 81.5% from the free throw line.

NEXT GAME
