Pacers Secure A Share Of USA South Regular Season Title With Win Over Salem

The William Peace University women's basketball team defeated Salem College by a score of (70-41). With this win, the Pacers have clinched at least a share of the USA South East Division regular season title.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first quarter would start slowly for both teams with the Spirits taking a (4-0) lead four minutes in. Jaymesha Sanders would drive under the net to get WPU on the board (4-2) before a layup by Mariah Partin would tie it (4-4). Eva Holloway, Khadijah Daniels, and Yamila Emanuel would then get the Pacers going as they took over the lead (12-4). A point from the free throw line by Pamela Mock would send WPU into the second quarter leading (13-6).
  • Mariah Partin would kick off the second quarter with two consecutive jump shots (17-6). A shot from behind the arc by Cierra Baker would give the Pacers a 15-point advantage (26-11), with Jaymesha Sanders and Pamela Mock each adding a layup near the end of the quarter to give the Pacers a (34-17) lead heading into halftime.
  • In the third quarter, Mikayla Ray would notch the first points for WPU with a drive under the net (36-17), while Jaymesha Sanders would put up a quick jump shot to increase the lead (38-19). Eva Holloway would put up a few consecutive points to give the Pacers a 26-point lead (48-22). Khadijah Daniels would finish the last seconds of the quarter with a layup as the Pacers headed into the fourth quarter leading (54-29).
  • Kiera Williams would tally a few points early in the fourth quarter for the Pacers (57-31) while Stephanie Chandler's jump shot would increase the lead to 30 points (61-31). Ana Rinne and Tatianna Occena would trade back-and-forth points to bring the score to (68-32) with the Pacers securing the win over Salem (70-41).

  • Sydney Bowen led the Spirits with 14 points and 9 rebounds.
