Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University softball team will open the 2020 season on February 8th at home with a double-header against Guilford College. The Pacers finished the 2019 season with a 15-19 overall record and a 10-6 conference record. They completed the season in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament as they fell to Averett University in a best-of-three series.
Candice Smith led the team last season with 45 hits and 32 RBIs and she recorded a .676 slugging percentage and a .417 batting average.
Danielle Hunt led the team from the mound as she recorded a 3.73 era with 68 strikeouts.
The Pacers last faced Guilford College during the 2018 season, where they split a double-header with a 5-4 loss and an 8-4 win.The Quakers completed the 2019 season with a 26-15 overall record and a 10-10 conference record. Makayla Crawford and Natalie Conrad led the team as Crawford tallied 56 hits and 58 RBIs for a .717 slugging percentage, while Conrad added 58 hits and 41 runs. Katie McNeill posted a 4.10 era with 89 strikeouts.
