Softball Splits Final Regular Season Series with Meredith

The Basics:

GAME 1 - How It Happened:
  • In the top of the first inning, Candice Smith opened with a homerun to give the Pacers a 1-0 start.
  • In the bottom of the second inning, Kelsey Mabe hit a two-run double to take a 2-1 lead. Charley Cox hit a single to score Mabe and the Pacers would head into the top of the third inning, trailing 3-1.
  • With three Pacers on, in the top of the fourth inning, Candice Smith hit a triple down the right field line to score three. The Pacers lead 4-3, heading into the bottom of the fourth.
  • The Angels scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and two more in the bottom of the sixth to maintain the lead, 7-4.
  • The Pacers made a last chance effort in the top of the seventh inning, as Olivia Oates hit a single to score Candice Smith, but that would be the final run scored for the Pacers, as the Angels took game one, 7-5.

GAME 1 - Pacer Top Performers:
GAME 1 - For the Foes:
  • Kelsey Mabe finished with two hits and three RBI's.
  • Charley Cox finished with two hits and two RBI's.
  • Susanne Taylor, Alyssa Drake, and Bryce Smith finished with two hits each.


GAME 2 - How It Happened
  • The Pacers got the bats going in the top of the second inning as Kelsey Durham hit a double to left center to score Kristina Mojica. Bailey Lambertson followed Durham with an RBI single, scoring Nadia Pittman.
  • With a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning, Kristina Mojica would double and advanced on a wild pitch with the next at-bat. With Mojica in scoring position, Olivia Oates reached on an error by the shortstop and Mojica scored.
  • The Angels scored in the bottom of the third inning off an error, but that would mark the only time an Angel would cross home plate.
  • Lauren Conway would score on a sac fly from Nadia Pittman in the top of the fifth to extend to a 4-1 lead.
  • In the top of the seventh inning, Olivia Oates hit a two RBI double and Bailey Lambertson hit a single to right field to score Oates. The Pacers would seal off a comfortable lead of 7-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning and would keep the bases in the final inning to win, 7-1.

GAME 2 - Pacer Top Performers:
  • Olivia Oates finished with two hits, two RBI's and one double.
  • Bailey Lambertson finished with two hits and two RBI's.
  • Kristina Mojica finished with two hits and one double.
  • Kelsey Durham got the win on the mound, giving up zero earned runs, and just four hits through seven innings pitched.

GAME 2 - For the Foes:
  • Anna Goldman finished with two hits.
  • Kelsey Mabe went 1-3 at the plate with a triple.
