HOW IT HAPPENED:

In the top of the first, Nate Holt had a diving catch to get the second out in the top of the 1st. The Cougars had runners on first and second, and Austin Skipper with a strikeout to end the inning.

The Pacers had a solid bottom of the first. Easton Payton reached first with an error made by the Cougar's first baseman. Â Nate Holt would then drive him home with a deep hit to the gap in left-center. The Pacers would be up 1-0 to end the inning.

In the top of the third, the Pacers continued their hot streak with big plays by Seaton and Rhew to end the inning. In the bottom of the 3rd, Holt would get an infield hit to start the Pacers off. A sac-bunt by Michael Sterne would advance the runners to second and third. Mikey Anerton with an RBI to extend the Pacers' lead.

The fourth inning proved to be a big one,to lead off the bottom of the fourth, Tilley would battle at the plate, and eventually draw a walk. A sac-bunt by Fernstrum would advance the runner. Rhew would lay down bunt single to load the bases with only one out on the board. An error by the shortstop would let two runs score. A stand up double would drive Rhew home and bring the Pacers lead up to 5-0.

Continuing the Pacers solid efforts on defense, they would see a 3-up-3-down top half of the 5th, and the Cougars would respond with the same in the bottom half. The Pacers would fire back with another 3-up-3-down top half in the sixth.

The Pacers would end the game the way they started with great pitching by Austin Skipper. He threw a 2-hit complete game shut-out. Pacers won the game 5-0 and also clinched this USA South conference series.

PACER TOP PERFORMERS:

Austin Skipper pitched a complete game shutout while striking out 4 and only allowing 2 hits.

Nathan Holt would dominate both defensively and in the batting order. He went 4-4 with 3 RBIs and including a double. He also made a great diving catch early in the game.

Tyler Tilson finished 3 for 5 at the plate with 1 RBI.

The Pacers are back in action for a conference series vs the Scots of Maryville College starting on Friday, April 5 at 7:00 p.m. This series will be played at Maryville College in Knoxville, TN.
