Women's Lacrosse Falls On the Road to Cougars

The Basics:
  • Final: William Peace 10  Averett 27
  • Records: William Peace 6-2  Averett 7-2
  • Location: Raleigh, NC | WPU Softball Complex

How It Happened:
  • The Cougars opened with an early 2-0 lead, but the Pacers would score an unassisted goal just moments after.
  • Averett would go on a 3-0 run in the following two minutes before Schaper would score her second goal of the night. The Cougars would lead, 5-2 with 20 minutes remaining in the first half.
  • Following Schaper's first two goals, the Cougars surged ahead on a 6-0 offensive charge. Rylie Toomey would score back-to-back goals for the Pacers to gain brief momentum.
  • With nine minutes remaining in the first half, the Cougars would go on another 6-0 streak to head into halftime up, 17-4.
  • Schaper would score a hat trick in the top of the second half with a goal in the opening minute of action.
  • The Cougars and Pacers traded goals in the following possessions as the Pacers continued to combat the Cougars.
  • The Pacers would fall 27-10, but would finish with a close second half effort of six goals to the Cougar's 10.

Pacer Top Performers:
  • Allison Schaper finished with five goals.
  • Rylie Toomey finished with three goals and three assists to go along with six draw controls and a team high seven ground balls.
  • Dana Florian had one goal.

For the Foes:
  • Elizabeth Peasley finished with a game-high nine goals.
  • Courtney Dalone finished with eight goals.
  • Alixis Roccia tallied five goals and three assists.
  • Breanne Sawall finished with 12 saves in net.
