Pacers Defeat Quakers in Mid-Week Match-Up

The Basics:
  • Final Score: William Peace 11  Guilford 7
  • Records: William Peace 4-11 Guilford 6-10
  • Location: Greensboro, NC

How It Happened:
  • The Pacers would start the game on a high note as Easton Payton lead off with a single to left field. Nathan Holt would follow Payton with a double down the left field line, advancing Payton to third. Mikey Anerton would step up hitting a SAC RBI to center field, scoring Payton. Ty Galloway would ground out to second, but would score Holt in the process. The Pacers would lead 2-0 heading into the bottom of the first inning.
  • The Quakers wouldn't have an answer for the Pacers until the bottom of the second inning as a string of errors in the field from the Pacers would create opportunity for the Quakers to score two.
  • With the score tied, 2-2, Tyler Tilson would begin the inning by making his way to first base after being hit by a pitch. Alec Seaton would hit a single to left field, moving Tilson to second. Nick Montrose would reach on an error by the pitcher after laying down a SAC bunt. Kyle Lowke would hit a 2 RBI single to right field, followed by a single from Johnathan Rhew, scoring Montrose. Rhew would advanced to second on the throw and Lowke would score on an error by the short stop. The Pacers would lead 6-2 after an impressive four-run inning.
  • The Quakers would respond in the bottom of the fifth inning. Johnathan Speight would walk four batters in the inning before Jamey May would relieve him on the mound. The Quakers would score three in the inning and close the gap, 6-5 in favor of the Pacers.
  • The Quakers would take their first lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning by one run, but the Pacers would answer in the top of the seventh as Nick Tilley would single to center field. Tyler Tilson would walk and Alec Seaton would double to centerfield, scoring Tilley. Kyle Lowke would ground out to the short stop but would score Tilson in the process. The Pacers would lead, 8-7 heading into the bottom of the seventh.
  • The Pacers would go on to score two more runs in the top of the eighth inning and one final run in the top of the ninth to seal the game, 11-7.

Pacer Top Performers:
  • Alec Seaton lead the Pacers with four hits in five at bats. Seaton also had one RBI and one double.
  • Easton Payton finished with three hits and one stolen base.
  • Nathan Holt finished with two doubles and one RBI.
  • Kyle Lowke finished with two hits and four RBI's.

For the Foes:
  • Mitchell Stumpo lead the Quakers with three hits, one double, and one RBI.
  • Bryce Vestal went 2-4 at the plate.

The Pacers return to the field on Friday, March 15 with a conference game against Pfeiffer University. The Pacers will play at USA Baseball NTC at 6:00 p.m.
