Falcons Take Game One of Series Versus Pacers

The Basics:
  • Final Score: William Peace 4  Pfeiffer 9
  • Records: William Peace 4-12 Pfeiffer  11-3
  • Location: USA Baseball NTC | Cary, NC

How It Happened:
  • After a brief rain delay, the Pacers would begin their game at 7:30 p.m. The Falcons would lead off the top of the first with three hits and two runs to take an early 2-0 advantage.
  • Nathan Holt would fire up the bats for WPU in the bottom of the first inning with a single to the pitcher. Mikey Anerton would follow with a rope to center field, advancing Holt to third. Ty Galloway would send one up the middle, scoring Holt. The Pacers would close in 2-1 heading into the top of the second.
  • Bryce Marsh would crush a deep ball to left center that would bounce over the wall for a stand-up double. Ira Dorin would single to right field, scoring Marsh. The Falcons would lead, 3-1.
  • The Pacers would load the bases in the bottom of the fourth with two outs but would be left stranded.
  • In the bottom of the fifth Mikey Anerton would single to center field. With two outs, Alec Seaton would single to right center but would be thrown out in a run down on his way to second base. Anerton would score before the out to cut the Falcons lead to 3-2.
  • In the top of the sixth inning, Ira Dorin would step up to hit an in-the-park homerun. Bryan Kowalski would reach on an error and would steal second. Before the inning would end, Hayden McGraw would single to right center for an RBI, scoring Kowalski (5-2)
  • Kirby Lambert would send one over the right field wall on the first pitch of the seventh inning to give the Falcons a 7-2 lead.
  • A new pitcher would walk both Mikey Anerton and Tyler Tilson in the bottom of the seventh. Michael Sterne would step in as DH to hit a rope to left center for a two RBI single. The Pacers would close in (6-4).
  • With the bases loaded and zero outs, Mason Striplin would hit a sac fly to centerfield, scoring one. With the bases loaded a second time, Chaston Gordon would hit one high in the gap over third base, scoring another. The Falcons would win, 9-4.

Pacer Top Performers:
For the Foes:
  • Bryce Marsh lead the Falcons with three hits, two RBI's and one double.
  • Kirby Lambert finished with two hits, two RBI's and one homerun.
  • Ira Dorin also finished with two hits, two RBI's and one homerun.
  • Nicholas Richmond finished with nine strikeouts on the mound for the Falcons.
