Women's Basketball Defeats Monarchs in Final Regular Season Conference Match-Up

THE BASICS:
  • Score: William Peace 65 - Methodist 61
  • Records:William Peace 15-9 - Methodist 5-20

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pacers jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the first quarter.
  • Mariah Ballen would pick up two fouls for the Pacers in the first quarter and would sit the entire second quarter.
  • The Monarchs would begin to chip away at the Pacer lead in the second quarter going on a 19-0 run through six minutes of action.
  • The Monarchs headed into halftime up, 34-26.
  • The Monarchs would capitalize on Pacer turnovers in the third quarter and would maintain a 49-41 lead heading into the final quarter.
  • The Monarchs would lead by as much as 11 in the fourth quarter before the Pacers would go on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to three.
  • The Pacers would take their first lead since the first quarter with 3:27 remaining in the fourth after Lanesha Hawkins would hit two free throws.
  • The Pacers would hit free throws down the stretch with eight seconds remaining to go up 64-61.
  • In their final attempt on offense, Kadie Snipes would shoot a three that would be blocked by Manazia Merriett. Merriett would get fouled by the Monarchs to head to the line with one second left on the clock.
  • Manazia would go 1-1 at the line and the Pacers would win 65-61.
PACER TOP PERFORMERS FOR THE FOES
  • Kayla Goldsmith lead the Monarchs with 17 points and 15 rebounds.
  • Kodi Centry contributed eight points points and six rebounds.
  • Both Kaneya Chambers and Logan Lee hit nine points for the Monarchs.

STATS OF THE GAME
  • The Pacers out-rebounded the Monarchs, 45-35.
  • The Pacers pulled down 14 offensive rebounds for 15 second chance points.
