Pacers Fall in Final Regular Season Game Versus Guilford

The Basics:

  • Final Score: William Peace 37 Guilford 78

  • Records: William Peace 15-10 Guilford 19-5

  • Location: Greensboro N.C.

How is Happened:

  • The Quakers would start the game with a 14-0 run to gain an early comfortable lead.

  • Amiee Hockaday would score the first two points for the Pacers followed by two free throws from Deja Umstead to cut the Quaker's lead to 10.

  • The Pacers offense would not be able to get things going in the first quarter as Guilford held them to 4 points in the quarter.

  • The second quarter would bring much of the same as the Quakers would again hold the Pacers to single digit points. Deja Umstead would score 5 of the 8 points in the second quarter. After an early 3-pointer from Umstead the Quakers would finish the second quarter on a 8 to 2 run.

  • The Quakers led 33-12 at the half.

  • The Quakers would start the third quarter on an 11-0 run giving them a 32 point lead.

  • Missed baskets would plague the Pacers as they would only score eight points in the third quarter.

  • The Pacers would get a little bit of momentum running and would go on a 7-0 run in the beginning of the fourth quarter to cut the Quakers lead to 27.

  • Unfortunately that would be followed by another 11-0 run by the Quakers to give them the 65-29 lead.

  • The Pacers would only score eight points in the last five minutes of the game which would not be enough to catch the Quakers.

Pacers Top Performers:

For the Foes:

  • Calyn Davis finished with a game high 12 points.

  • Jla Hinson and Kasey Merlin both finished with 8 points.

  • Monell Dunlap finished with a game high 11 rebounds.

Stats of the Game:

  • The Pacers shot 22.0% from the field to the Quaker's at 42.0%.

  • The Quakers would out rebound the Pacers 58- 3.

  • Both teams would finish with double digit turnovers (13).

What's next?

The William Peace Women's Basketball team is back in action on Wednesday , February 13 in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament. The Pacers will matchup against crosstown rival  Meredith College. The Pacers and the Avenging Angels split the two games in the regular season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm in the Hermann Athletic Center.
