HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pacers started off hot with a shot from behind the arc by Lauryn Cross to set the tone. UMW quickly responded by going on a (7-1) run. The Pacers and Eagles would trade three-pointers to bring the score to (12-9) in favor of the Eagles.Â
- In the second quarter, the Pacers shot 50% from the field. Lauryn Cross contributed 6 points from behind the arc. Sydney Austin contributed 6 points to keep the game tight. Before the half, both teams traded shots from behind the arch from Lauryn Cross and UMW's Emily Thompson. This would leave the Pacers down (38-35) at the half.
- Eva Holloway had a tip-in to tie the game at (40-40). The Eagles had a late surge in the third quarter to put UMW up by seven (52-45).
- In the final quarter, the Pacers came back from a seven point deficit and the Eagles and Pacers battled it out until the final minutes of the game. Khadijah Daniels contributed a three-pointer as well as five points from the foul line. The Pacers would continue to hold the advantage at the end of the game and would come away with a (75-71) win.
PACER TOP PERFORMERS
- Lauryn Cross would put up 23 points, and contribute (7-12) from behind the arch.Â
- Mikayla Ray tallied 9 rebounds, while shooting 60% from the field.Â
- Sydney Austin posted 8 rebounds.Â
FOR THE FOES
- Tory Martin tallied 8 rebounds and contributed 18 points.
- Maddie Shifflett totaled 17 points and shot 60% from behind the arch.
STATS OF THE GAME
- The Pacers were 41.9% from the field in comparison to the Eagles 41.1%
- WPU went 47.1% from behind the arch.Â
- The Pacers shot 85% to UMW's 68.2%.
NEXT GAME
The Pacers will host Pfeiffer University on Saturday, January 4th. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM in the Hermann Athletic Center.
