HOW IT HAPPENED
-
The first quarter would see both teams struggle to score early on. Jaymesha Sanders would hit a contested mid-range jumper to put the Pacers up early. Mikayla Ray would then score on back-to back possessions to widen the Pacers lead. Sanders would cap off an 8-1 scoring run with another jumper under six minutes remaining.
-
Mary Baldwin would answer with an offensive surge of their own as they finished the first quarter on a 18-7 run and would now lead the Pacers 15-19.
-
After much back and forth action the Pacers would eventually take the lead after a five point scoring run from Yamila Emanuel at 28-27.Khadijah Daniels would add a pair of free throws and a layup to give the Pacers a 34-29 lead.Â
-
After a 5-0 run from the Fighting Squirrels with under a minute left they would lead the Pacers 37-34. Lauryn Cross would tie the game at 37-37 with a 3-pointer from deep as time expired.
-
In the second half the Pacers offense would take over. With the score tied at 41-41 with 8:45 left in the third quarter the Pacers would take the lead thanks to a pair of free throws from Mikayla Ray. The Pacers would not trail again in the game. Down the stretch timely shooting from the line as well as the great play from Jaymesha Sanders and Mikayla Ray would be enough for the Pacers to hold on and seal the 86-70 win for the Pacers.
