THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mikayla Ray got the Pacers started early in the first quarter for a 2-0 lead with an impressive layup. Lauryn Cross would follow up with a layup of her own, while Cierra Baker would give WPU a (6-0) lead. CNU would tie it up (8-8), and the rest of the first quarter would be a back-and-forth contest with CNU taking a late advantage to lead (24-18) heading into the 2nd quarter.
  • In the 2nd quarter, Sydney Austin would bring WPU within 3 with a layup and a shot from the foul line as the Pacers trailed (28-25). Lauryn Cross tied the game (31-31) from WPU, while another layup from Austin would give the Pacers a (33-31) lead. The Pacers would lead (36-32) heading into halftime.
  • The Pacers began to pull away from the Captains in the 3rd quarter. A layup by Jaymesha Sanders gave WPU a (44-38) lead, while a shot by Lauryn Cross from behind the arch put WPU up by 9 (49-40). A couple of successful attempts from the free throw line by Sydney Austin put the Pacers up (51-40). A jumper by Khadijah Daniels near the end of the third would give WPU a dominant (64-51) lead.
  • In the final quarter, the Pacers continued to control the game. Another 3-pointer by Lauryn Cross would give them a (69-55) advantage. Sydney Austin continued to add to her point total with another layup which would be good for a (73-60) Pacer lead. WPU would not let up and a late shot from behind the arch by Mikayla Ray would clinch the game as WPU went on to win (82-68).
PACER TOP PERFORMERS
  • Sydney Austin led the team with a game high 25 points as she shot 8-13 from the field.
  • Lauryn Cross added 20 points as she went 8-14 from the field and 2-5 from behind the arc.
  • Mikayla Ray tallied 9 rebounds and 6 blocks to go along with 11 points.
FOR THE FOES
  • Anaya Simmons led the Captains with 20 points as she went 8-14 from the field.
  • Natalie Terwilliger contributed 12 points.
STATS OF THE GAME
  • The Pacers shot 30-59 from the field and 19-24 from the foul line.
  • CNU shot 26-88 from the field and 2-30 from behind the arch.
