Pacers Conclude Season With Tough Overtime Loss In Greensboro

Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University men's soccer team fell in overtime to the Greensboro Pride by a score of 3-2. This concludes the season for the Pacers as they finish with an overall record of 9-7-2.

Jorge Aguilar would get the Pacer offense rolling right off the bat as he challenged Pride keeper Remy Brezault just 16 seconds in. The first half was a back-and-forth effort but the Pride would find the back of the net first as Gerado Peraza gave Greensboro a 1-0 lead. WPU would fight back to tie it 1-1 as Jose Aguirre beat Brezault and found himself alone in front of the net at 16:13. The Pacers continued to control most of the half and would be rewarded at 33:25 as Angel Ramirez made an impressive shot from outside the box to give WPU a 2-1 advantage. The rest of the half would be a battle for possession as neither team managed another shot on goal. The Pacers continued to lead 2-1 heading into halftime.

In the second half, the Pride would put on the pressure to challenge keeper Dillon Garbrandt. At 62:12, the Pride would tie the game 2-2 with a goal by Darli Mihindou. Garbrandt continued to make some impressive saves with the Pacers a man down to keep the score tied as Greensboro continued to press. The second half would end tied at 2-2 and would head into overtime.

The first overtime period saw Garbrandt make a few key saves as the Pacers were held in their own end without a shot on goal. Jovan Cotton would end the game in the second overtime as he found a way past Garbrandt to give Greensboro the 3-2 win.
