How it Happened
- In the first quarter: The Pacers and EMU were in a closely contested first quarter as the two teams were feeling one another out and getting into a groove. The Pacers led the Royals (13-12) after the first, with Mikayla Ray tallying 3 points for her team.
- The second quarter: The Pacers turned up the intensity, pulling away from EMU and making big stops on the defensive end. EMU pulled themselves back into it with some scrappy play and knocked down some free throws. Mikayla Ray had a big coast to coast take to put the score to (32-28) at the end of the first half. Ray recorded 7 points for the Pacers in the second, while Khadijah Daniels added 5.
- In the third: The action started out quickly as the Pacers notched four unanswered points, forcing an early EMU timeout. Jaymesha Sanders had a pair of layups that were big for the Pacers to help extend the lead to (48-34). The rest of the quarter was a little slower as both teams made good defensive stops.
- The fourth quarter: The Pacers slowed down on scoring as EMU was playing their best defense of game in the fourth. EMU fought back to bring the score to 67-50. The Pacers locked in and locked down the Royals, holding them scoreless and pushing the lead to 74-50 with less than 2 minutes in the game. With solid defense and care of the ball the Pacers clinched their second win of the season with a final score of (77-53)!
