Men's Soccer Drops Close Match to Brevard

Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University men's soccer team fell to Brevard College on Sunday, October 13th by a score of 1-0. The Pacers now hold an overall record of 7-4-2 and a USA South Conference record of 5-3-1.

In the first half, keeper Jacob Smith would be challenged early as Brevard put the pressure on as Lucas Campos got in front of the net. Andres Lopez would have a good opportunity at 6:17, but keeper Patrick Hall was quick between the posts. Brevard's JP Suarti gave the Tornados a 1-0 lead at 11:56 as his shot in the left corner was able to make it past Smith. The game would get a bit scrappy as both teams exchanged a few yellow cards. Jose Garcia would get a chance right in front at 22:45 off a corner kick by Osciel Dominguez but the Tornados were able to set up a block in front of the net to keep Garcia off the score sheet. Nademe Tokhli had the best opportunity for the Pacers in the first half as he broke away from the Brevard defense, but keeper Patrick Hall was able to get his hands on the shot. The game would head into halftime with the Tornados holding a 1-0 lead.

Lucas Campos would get the first opportunity of the second half as he found his way to the front of the net, but Jacob Smith was able to make the save. At 51:21, Jorge Aguilar had a great chance but Patrick Hall was just able to get over to make the save. Junior Ayala would get an excellent chance right in front at 60:06, but Hall was able to collect the shot and keep the Pacers off the board. The Pacers were unable to get anything past Hall despite an aggressive offensive push where they outshot Brevard 9-3. The game would end with the Tornados taking a 1-0 win over WPU.
