Pacers Outlast Panthers Down The Stretch

The Basics:

  • Score: William Peace 94 Ferrum 82

  • Records: Ferrum: 2-12 WPU: 7-5

  • Location: Raleigh, NC

How It Happened:

  • Ferrum came out strong to start the game, opening up with four early points

  • Camden Ferguson and Smith Gupton drained early three pointers to put the Pacers ahead early in the first half.

  • The Panthers took the lead with 12:12 remaining in the first half but Smith-Gupton's shot put the Pacers on top again (17-16).

  • Marcus Huff led the Panthers on a six nothing run putting Ferrum ahead (26-22).

  • Tre McLean started a Pacer eight nothing run in which Camden Ferguson, Tyson Sellers, and Jason Dudley all scored.

  • At halftime, the Pacers led (40-36) due to the outstanding offensive rebounding and timely shots by the offense.

  • Camden Ferguson drained two quick three-pointers to start the second half and extended the Pacer lead to eight.

  • Defensively, the Pacers were solid in the second half containing Marcus Huff and the Panther offense.

  • Tyson Sellers scored timely baskets with minutes remaining in the game and made all of his free-throws this afternoon.

  • Jason Dudley would swing momentum back in the Pacers way with a big dunk in the final minutes.

  • The Pacers shot 10-15 from behind the arch as a team in the second half and the Panthers were unable to catch up

The Recap:

  • The Pacers shot 51.6% from the field and 41.9% from three point range

  • Camden Ferguson led the Pacers with 22 points

  • Smith Gupton went 6-7 from behind the arch and had 18 points

  • Tyson Sellers and Jason Dudley also had big games and found themselves with double figure points

  • Mikal Gaylord led the Pacers with 9 rebounds and 9 assists along with a total 10 points

The Foes:

  • Marcus Huff finished with 26 points

  • Rashad Reed tallied 17 points and Nick Helton with 14 points

What's Next?

The William Peace University Men's Basketball Team is back in action on January 8 versus Averett University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm in Danville, Virginia.
