Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Pacer Offense Takes Down LaGrange Panthers

Cary, NC—- The William Peace men's soccer team defeated the Panthers of LaGrange College on Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-0.

The Pacers would start the first half a bit sluggish and struggled to maintain possession in the beginning. The Panthers would have a couple of chances off the Pacers mistakes early on but Pacer goalkeeper, Jacob Smith would stand strong in net to hold the Panthers at bay. The Pacers would create some great scoring opportunities near the end of the first half when Ivan Ponce served a great ball across the six yard box to Jorge Aguilar but he was unable to convert putting his shot just wide. After a couple of substitutions from the Pacers the play would pick up. Jacob Woodburn would nod a pass down to Oscar Aguirre who would be denied by the woodwork. Danny Garcia also had a clear chance inside the six but would finish just wide.

To begin the second half, the Pacers would come out firing on all cylinders. With 35 minutes left in the second period, Aaron Latigue would hit a wonder of a goal from 35 out to beat the LaGrange keeper and put the Pacers up (1-0). This would get the Pacer offense going and be the first of three goals in three back-to-back minutes. The second would be just two minutes later after Jorge Aguilar played a spectacular ball over the top to Ivan Ponce who would have a smooth finish to put the Pacers up (2-0). Jorge Aguilar would round up the scoring for the Pacers and finish off a rebound from an Ivan Ponce shot.
