Pacers Conclude Greensboro Series Advancing to Tournament Play

GREENSBORO, NC-- The William Peace University men's baseball team concluded their series on  the road for the final regular season game against Greensboro College. Although the Pacers took the first two games of the series, the Sunday afternoon contest was taken by the Pride. In a come-from-behind win (2-1).

The Pitching Dual and Comeback: Cameron High got the start on the mound for the Pacers, going against a deep pitching rotation by the Greensboro College Pride as they used four pitchers in this afternoon's game. The Pacer defense backed Cameron High as he went six solid innings only allowing four hits and no earned runs. High got out of multiple innings with runners in scoring position due to his strong day on the mound. Greensboro's Tyler Garam pitched five solid innings only allowing one run and had three strikeouts. The first run of the day did not come until the sixth inning when Jake Norris doubled down the right field line scoring Dakota Slate. Greensboro put pressure on the Pacers scoring in the bottom of the seventh and eighth inning when they took the lead, 2-1. In the top of the ninth, the Pacers loaded the bases. With two outs, the strong effort came up just short as a pop up to second base would leave the three Pacers stranded and the Pride with the victory.

THE BREAKDOWN FOR THE FOES
  • The Greensboro Pride pitchers stranded twelve WPU runners on base.
  • Christian Kercado went 2-3.
  • Dillon Cox went 1-4 with a big RBI sacrifice fly.
  • Blake Carroll had one RBI.
