Pacers Lose Close Contest to Lions

DEMOREST, GA -- The William Peace University men's lacrosse team fell to the Piedmont Lions in a hard fought match-up. The Pacers showed perseverance through all four periods but the Lions sealed the deal, winning 10-8.

Florian Keeps Fight Alive for Pacers: Anthony Florian tallied two goals in the fourth quarter, two goals in the third, and one goal in the second. These five goals marked a career best for the WPU freshman. Each goal by Florian kept the Pacers within reach of the Lions. After a goal by Walker Rice in the second quarter, with the Pacers trailing 2-4, Florian's goal followed Rice to put the Pacers within one. After back-to-back Piedmont goals in the third quarter, Florian answered with two more goals of his own, one of which assisted by Michael Meley, to put the Pacers within two, 5-7. With the Pacers down 6-9 in the winding minutes of the fourth quarter, Florian would score two more for the Pacers to put the Pacers within one. The Pacer effort would fall just short as the Lions held off seven shots from the Pacers in the remaining six minutes of play.
