Baseball Wins First Game of Series Against Cougars

DANVILLE, VA-- The William Peace University baseball team traveled to Virginia to play the first game of a three game series against Averett University. The Pacers defeated the Cougars 6-4. The Pacers now improve to 14-14 overall.

Dix and Tilson Bring Early Lead For Pacers: Easton Payton got the Pacers started by reaching base on a throwing error. After an Alec Allred walk and a wild pitch that moved the base runners to second and third, Christian Dix stepped up to bat. Dix hit into the gap in right-center field to score Payton and Allred. Two batters later, Tyler Tilson dug in and hit a booming shot to dead center field. The Pacers went up 4-0 and never looked back.

In the top of the second the Pacers got another run off a Justin Torres RBI single that scored Payton. In the top of the fifth inning, Allred doubled down the left field line. Dix would advance Allred to third base, and Allred would score on the next at bat from a sac-fly by Michael Sterne. Averett would have a late rally and manage to bring in four runs. The Pacers would maintain their lead through the remaining innings defeating the Cougars 6-4.
