Rocky Mount, NC--The William Peace University Baseball team fell in game two of their three game series against North Carolina Wesleyan by a score of (8-6).

The Pacers would take an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a single by Christian Dix that would score Alec Allred. N.C. Wesleyan would answer back in the bottom of the inning, scoring two to lead 2-1. WPU would then take a 3-2 lead on hits by Easton Payton and Alec Allred in the top of the second, with the Battling Bishops again tying it up 3-3 in the bottom of the 2nd. It would remain a tight game with both teams scoring a run in the fourth inning to make it 4-4. N.C. Wesleyan would get the bats going in the bottom of the sixth, scoring four to lead 8-4. Though the Pacers answered in the top of the ninth with RBIs by Christian Dix and Mikey Anerton, they were unable to recover and fell 8-6 to the Battling Bishops.

The Recap:

• Braxton Lamm pitched four innings for WPU, allowing 6 hits and 4 runs while tallying 2 strikeouts. Benn Brann and Jayce Stephenson also stepped up to the mound in relief, pitching 2 innings each.    

• Christian Dix had 3 hits in his 4 appearance at the plate, scoring 1 run and 2 RBIs.

• Mikey Anerton was 2-4 at bat, while Easton Payton led the team with 2 stolen bases.

The Foes:    

• Drew Tubb started on the mound for N.C. Wesleyan, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing 10 hits and 4 runs while recording 2 strikeouts.

• Max Johnson, Trey Croom, and Brandon Wheat were all 2-4 at the plate.

• Trey Croom, Brad Pennington, and Logan Andrews led the team with 2 RBIs each.

What's Next?

The William Peace Pacers will take on N.C. Wesleyan for the final game of the series at 2PM. The Pacers currently have a record of (11-10) overall and (4-7) in conference. NC Wesleyan is now (11-13) overall and (5-6) in the conference.
