Pacers Fall in Game One Of Weekend Series Versus NC Wesleyan

Rocky Mount, NC--The William Peace University Baseball team fell in game one of their three game series against North Carolina Wesleyan by a score of (0-6).

In the top of the first the Pacers could not get anything going against NC Wesleyan ace Nate Gardner. The Battling Bishops get their bats going in the bottom of the first with Trey Croom's two run homer after a Nate Gardner single. This would give the Bishops a quick (2-0) lead. A single by Alec Titmus scoring Logan Andrews to put the Bishops up (3-0). In the top of the fourth inning, Alec Allred led off with a single into left field. Nathan Holt hit a screaming line drive down the left field line advancing Alec Allred to third base. Nick Tilley walked to load the bases. The Pacers would again be held by Gardner leaving the bases loaded. In the fifth inning, N.C. Wesleyan added another run after Max Johnson went deep to center for the Bishop's second home run of the day. Brad Pennington would add the Bishop's third home run of the day in the bottom of the seventh to widen their lead to (6-0). Nate Gardner would throw a complete game with 5 hits allowed, 15 strikeouts, and only 1 walk. William Peace was unable to put any hits together to make a comeback and would fall to the Bishops. Final score from Rocky Mount, NC was (6-0).
