Jackson Leads Pacers Over Quakers

Cary, NC-- The William Peace University Pacers defeated Guilford College 2-0 Pacer improving their record to (4-2) on the season.Derek Jackson got the start for the Pacers and pitched 7 2/3 innings allowing only one hit. Allec Allred got the Pacer offense going into the bottom of the second with a line drive base hit and a stolen base. Christian Dix followed with a single up the middle giving the Pacers a (1-0) lead. In the bottom of the fourth, the Pacers capitalize on a Quaker error, advancing Tyler Tilson to third base. Trey Hogan grounded into a double play but Tilson scored from third giving the Pacers a (2-0) lead. Derek Jackson continued his impressive outing with only one hit allowed and five strikeouts. Ben Brann came into the game in relief with one strikeout, while keeping the game scoreless, and picked up the save. William Peace baseball improves their record to (4-2) with the big win on home turf.

 

The Recap:

  • Derek Jackson pitched 7 2/3 innings and only gave up one hit to go along with 5Ks.

  • Alec Allred had one hit and an RBI in the bottom of the second inning.

  • Christian Dix went 1-3 in tonight's game with an RBI.

  • Nathan Holt went 1-2 with a walk, and also Tyler Tilson gathered a hit in tonight's game.

 

The Foes:

  • Mitchell Stumpo was the only Quaker to get a hit against Derek Jackson.

  • Trevor Denton pitched seven innings giving up one earned run with 2Ks

What's Next:
The William Peace University Baseball team is back in action against Guilford College in a doubleheader on Sunday February 18, at 12 p.m. Guilford Quakers now have a record of (0-3) and the Pacers are (4-2).
