Raleigh,NC--The William Peace University Women's Basketball Team defeated conference rival Greensboro College 64-59. With this big home win the Pacers now have a record of (4-14) and (4-8) in conference play.
The Pacers came out strong in the first quarter taking a 9-0 lead. Mikayla Ray and Jayde Grant both contributed four points early. William Peace kept the ball on their end of the floor for a majority of the first half. A big layup from Mikayla Ray kept the Pacers rolling as she beat the shot clock. DeJah Cheatham followed up Ray with a three pointer in the first quarter and extended the lead to 10.
In the second Jayde Grant came up with a big and extended the Pacers lead. Greensboro closed in on the lead fast in the second quarter. Rasheika Gregory led with 7 points and Katie Lewis had 5 points. A'Liyah Woods tied the game at 26 with forty eight seconds remaining in the first half. Greensboro outrebounded the Pacers in the first half and went 10-39 from the field and 2-11 from the three point line. The game would be tied at 26 at the half.
Greensboro College came out of the locker room and would score first. The Pacers answered with back to back three pointers by DeJah Cheatham and extended the lead to nine with 6:46 remaining in the third quarter. Mikayla Ray continued to impress down low in the paint and  would add to the Pacers lead. Greensboro inched closer to the lead eventually coming within one point of the lead with (9:07) remaining in the third. A'Liyah Woods would make multiple clutch three pointers for Greensboro. Woods would hit another clutch 3 with  6:19 remaining bringing the Pride within 3. Greensboro would make a big push at the end of the game with minutes remaining with two three pointers by A'liyah Woods. With seconds remaining Greensboro would inbound but a great hustle play by Alyssa Gasperini sealed the deal for the Pacers.
THE BREAK DOWN
- -Mikayla Ray led all scoring with 25 points and 11 rebounds
- -Jayde Grant contributed 16 points and 6 rebounds.
- -DeJah Cheatham went 3-5 from behind the three point line and scored 12 points.

-Rasheika Gregory led Greensboro college with 14 points and 3 rebounds.
-A'Liyah Woods finished the night with 13 points and made clutch three pointers down the stretch for the Pride.
A LOOK AHEAD
The Pacers hit road to face Salem College in Winston Salem on Saturday January 3 at 2pm. Salem College holds a record of 8-11 and will be facing a tough William Peace team coming off a solid win at home.
