Pacers Fall on The Road To Greensboro College

GREENSBORO, NC -- The William Peace University women's basketball team fell to the Greensboro College Pride by a score of 46-61.

The Pacers would trail early on as Sabria Joseph started things off for the Pride with layup, Brianna Best would follow with a layup of her own as part of a 6-0 run for the Pride.

Led by Mikayla Ray, the Pacers would answer right back and go on a run of their own. The Pacers would use a 9-0 run to finish the first quarter leading 9-6.

The second quarter picked up the pace with the Pacers scoring a total of 13 points to the Pride's 15. Mariah Ballen would score four points late in the quarter to give the Pacers a 21-19 lead. Eva Holloway would add a free throw late to extend the lead to three. The Pride would hit a layup with five seconds left to cut the Pacers lead to one.

 

First Half Stats:

 

Sabria Joseph would start things off for the Pride coming out of halftime with a layup to give the Pride a 23-22 lead . Katie Lewis would hit a 3-pointer to extend Greensboro's lead to four. The Pacers would regain the lead for a brief moment with 7:33 left in the third, thanks to a 5-0 run. The Pride would quickly answer back as Lauren Jenkins would put the Pride back in front.

Greensboro would begin to pull away late in the third but a couple of free throws from Khadijah Daniels and Eva Holloway would keep the Pacers close. After a pair of free throws from Greensboro, Mikayla Ray would score a layup to cut the Pride's lead to three.

Trailing by three to start the fourth quarter, the Pacers would not be able to get anything going offensively down the stretch. The Pacers would be held to seven fourth quarter points and would struggle from the field shooting only 22% on 2 of 9 shooting in the fourth. Greensboro would pull away down the stretch thanks to timely shots from Katie Lewis. The Pacers would fall by a final score of 46-61.

Mikayla Ray earned her 4th double-double of the year with a team high 17 points and 22 rebounds. Ray's 22 rebounds tie her own school record for the most rebounds in a game.

The William Peace University women's basketball team will have a quick turnaround and will travel to face Division I opponent Campbell University tomorrow, Wednesday, December 5.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Buies Creek, NC.
