Raleigh, NC--- The William Peace University women's basketball team opened up USA South Conference play with a 79-73 win over Methodist University. With tonight's win, the Pacers improve their record to 3-3.
The Pacers would fall behind early as Logan Lee would kick off the game with a mid-range jump shot. Both teams would trade baskets in the early stages of the game as there would be four lead changes in the first quarter. Mikayla Ray's first of her 14 first half points came with 5:45 left in the first quarter. Her layup would give the Pacers an 8-6 lead.
With only fourteen seconds remaining in the first quarter Shaniya Taylor drained a long three to give the Pacers a (17-14) lead.
The Pacers would struggle in the first, committing nine turnovers in the first half. The Monarchs would take advantage and scored 41 first half points on 48.6% shooting from the field.

At the half the Pacers trailed 41-33.

The Pacers tallied 15 rebounds in the first half.

Mikayla Ray finished the first with 14 points and 6 rebounds.

It would not take long for the Pacers to get things going as they would go on a 6-0 run to start the third quarter and cut the Monarchs lead to two.
Khadijah Daniels would lead the Pacers with timely jump shots and layups in the third quarter. Daniels, would finish with 20 points and 14 of them coming in the second half.
Momentum favored the Pacer offense going in to the final quarter, but the Monarchs would put up an impressive fight. They went on an 11-0 run led by Chandler True and Logan Lee. Although the Pacer defense struggled late in the game, they would hold out to win by a final score of 79-73.

The William Peace University women's basketball team is back in action at home at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1 and will continue  USA South Conference play. The Pacers will match-up against Mary Baldwin University who comes into the contest at 7-1.
