Pacers Fend Off Wolverines in Exciting Final Minutes of Play

RALEIGH, NC -- The Pacers defeated the Wolverines of Wesley College in a close shootout by a score of (84-82).

The Pacers were contested from the start, but quickly found their footing as they scored 18 early points to the Wolverines' five. Smith Gupton, John Ingram and Tyson Sellers scored a total of four 3-pointers within the first five minutes of the game. The Wolverines found their pace after the Pacers jumped out to a 13-point lead. They Wolverines,  led by standout guard Brian Cameron. The Pacers stayed ahead for the majority of this half, only losing the lead around the 10-minute mark. Tyson Sellers would break the Wolverines run with a 3-point assisted by Smith Gupton, giving the Pacers the lead once again. At the end of the half the Wolverines would score a layup at the buzzer off a turnover by the Pacers. The score heading into the half would be (43-37) in favor of the Pacers.

At the start of the second half, both sides exploded on the offensive side.The Pacers would jump out in front but the Wolverines would answer right back and cut the Pacer's lead time and time again . Tyson Sellers scored three back-to-back 3-pointers and a layup, scoring 13 of the Pacers' 41 points in this half. Sellers and Brian Cameron would put on a show in the second half and go back and forth. With the clock ticking down in the final seconds with the Pacers up by two the Wolverines would have two chances to take the lead but they would fall short (84-82).

What's Next?
The William Peace Pacers will return to action after a brief break and jump right into conference play against the Pride of Greensboro College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm at the Hermann Athletic Center. The Pride come into the match-up at (1-4) while the Pacers will come in at (2-3).
