Pacers Fall in Highly Contested battle Versus Wasps

EMORY, VA -- The Pacers fell in a highly contested contest against the Wasps of Emory and Henry by a score of (74-79).

The Pacers would come out firing and start out the game on a (16-4) run. Reigning USA South Rookie of the week John Ingram would start the run for the Pacers with a layup. Mikal Gaylord would hit two timely threes in the run. Smith Gupton would add a three of his own to put the Pacers up (10-4). Trey Bryant would would add three points to cap the Pacers run and give them them their largest lead of the game at (16-4) with 15:45 remaining in the first half. It would be a half of momentum swings as the Wasps would go on a (12-4) run led by Standout guard Colin Molden. This would bring the Wasps within two points of the Pacers with over ten minutes remaining in the first. The Pacers would hold on to the lead down the stretch in the first half with timely buckets from John Ingram and Donolly Tyrell. The Pacers would not trail until under three minutes when a Colin Molden free throw gave the Wasps a one point lead. This lead would be short lived as Donolly Tyrell would hit a basket from behind the arc to send the Pacers leading into the half by a score of (42-40).

 

The second half was more of the same -- the Wasps would trail for most of the second half. Colin Molden and Tharon Suggs would keep the Wasps close to the Pacers with timely buckets. Ingram would continue to come up big for the Pacers in the second as well as Smith Gupton who would have some timely threes to keep the Pacers lead in tact. It would not be until under thirty seconds  left in the game when the Wasps regained the lead. It would be Suggs coming up big for the Wasps with the score tied at (74-74). Suggs would hit a three to give the Wasps a (77-74) lead. The Pacers would try to comeback with seconds on the clock but the Wasps would hold on for a (77-74) win.

The Recap:

  • Trey Bryant would record another double-double and finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

  • John Ingram finished with a team leading 17 points.

  • Samuel Arnold made the most 3-pointers at 3.

 

The Foes:

  • Colin Molden scored a game high 35 points as well as 7 rebounds and 5 assists

  • Tharon Suggs finished with 20 points

 

What's Next?

The William Peace Pacers will return to action and return home to the Hermann Athletic Center and match up against the Wesley College Wolverines. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM Sunday, November 25th.
