Fredericksburg,VA-- The William Peace University Women's Basketball team fell in their second game of the Hyatt Place Tip-off Tournament. The Pacers fell to Transylvania University (48-63).
The Pacers would trail early in the first quarter as the Pioneers would hit a three to start off the game. Mariah Ballen would lead the Pacers early on and score 6 of her 13 points in the first quarter. Thanks to a 6 to 3 run at the end of the first quarter the Pacers would take (12-8) lead heading into the Second. WPU would keep the momentum going to start the second and would go on another run. Mikayla Ray would start a seven to two run in the second scoring four out of the seven points. Ashton Woodard and Zenoviah Walker would respond for the Pioneers and come up with timely baskets in a (12-0) run to give Transylvania a (23-20) lead with under five minutes remaining in the second quarter.

The Pacers would shoot 47% from the field in the first half

The Pioneers would score 10 points off the Pacer turnovers in the second quarter

The Pioneers would pull away from the Pacers to start the third quarter thanks to an 11 to 2 run and give the pioneers a (42-28) lead. Shania Springer would hit back to back baskets for the Pacers to cut the lead but Kristen Hayes would answer right back for the Pioneers to extend their lead to 14 heading into the fourth quarter. The Pacers would try and cut the deficit in the fourth quarter led by Eva Holloway who would score seven points in the quarter. It would not be enough for the Pacers as the Pioneers would hold on to win (48-63).
