Pacers Top Wildcats in Non-Conference Match-up

LYNCHBURG, VA -- The Pacers had an overwhelming victory over the Wildcats of Randolph College, by a score of (69-54).

The two teams were pretty evenly matched for the first half of the game. The Wildcats scored 12 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second to the Pacers 14 and 13, respectively. Mariah Ballen would shoot 50% from the field in the first half and finished with 8 points . Mikayla Ray would add 5 points and 7 rebounds of her own in the first half.  Shaniya Taylor would also knock down some timely shots in the second quarter for the Pacers and tie things up at 24 with a three pointer with under three minutes remaining in the quarter. Taylor would add two more points from the free-throw line to send the Pacers into the half leading (27-26).

The Pacers would pull away in the third quarter by scoring 26 points in the quarter. Manazia Merriett would gets the Pacers offense going with a jumper and a three pointer. Merriett would score 7 of her 10 points in the third. Shaniya Taylor would remain hot from behind the arc and would knock down two timely threes down the stretch for the Pacers. Khadijah Daniels would also come up big down the stretch for the Pacers and add 7 of her 11 points in the last two quarters of play. In the fourth quarter the Pacers defense would step up and hold the Wildcats to 13 points and secure the (69-54) win.


The Recap:

  • Mariah Ballen went  6 for 13 and finished with 12 points.

  • Mikayla Ray finished with a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

  • Shaniya Taylor had a team high 17 points on 6 of 14 shooting.


The Foes:

  • Kalyn Banks would finish with a game high 18 points and 19 rebounds.

  • Dominique Jackson would add 12 points on 5-14 shooting.

 

What's Next?

The William Peace Pacers will travel to the University of Mary Washington  in Fredericksburg, VA for the UMW Hyatt Place Tip-off Tournament. The Pacers will play Mary Washington on Friday, November 16th at 7:00PM.
