Men's Soccer Takes Down Berea

RALEIGH, NC -- The William Peace University men's soccer team defeated Berea College on Sunday afternoon with a final score of 6-1. The Pacers improve to 8-1-4 on the season.

The game got off to a difficult start for Berea as their keeper received a red card early in the first seven minutes of play. Garcia would send the kick up and over the keeper into the right corner of the net for his second goal of the season and first goal of the game. WPU would continue to press forward on their attack and would out-shoot BC in the first period, 7-0. Jorge Aguilar would come off the bench in the 29th minute and score the second goal of the game in the 39th minute with an assist from Ivan Ponce. The Pacers took an early 2-0 lead heading into the half.

The Pacer offense would come alive in the second half beginning early in the 39th minute of play as Ivan Ponce would find Jorge Aguilar who would drop in his eighth goal of the season. Ponce would continue to contribute on the offensive end, notching a hat trick on the day with three goals of his own in the second period. Jonathan Gares would also score his first goal of the season in the second period with a shot assisted by Samuel Suazo.
