Raleigh,NC-- The William Peace University Volleyball team fell (3-0) to crosstown rival Meredith College. This marks the first loss for the Pacers in USA South conference play. The Pacers are now (5-1) in conference and (10-5) overall.
The first set was a close one as the Pacers fell (24-26). The Angels would take an early lead following several attacking errors from the Pacers. With the Angels leading (8-3) The Pacers would mount a comeback thanks to a 6-1 rally, that included five errors from the Angels bringing the score to (9-9). Both teams would go back and forth until the Pacers made another run that would put them ahead (18-14). The Pacers run would be halted by a kill from Haley Reeg . This would get the Angel's attack going as they would go on a run of their own to give them a (20-19) lead. The Pacers would be one point away from winning the set following two kills from Madison Myers. The Pacers would be unable to secure the first set as Meredith fought back with back to back kills to make the score 24-23. After a Pacer's timeout the score would be level at 24 following a WPU attacking error. Caroline Corey and Samantha Smith would secure the first set for Meredith with back to back kills.
The Second set would also be close as the score would be tied on seven different occasions in the early stages of the set. With the Angels leading (12-11), Mya Parks would tie the game at 12 with a kill. Cathy Delano would answer right back for the Angels with a kill of her own to put Meredith ahead. After a Sha'Nice Frazier kill, the Angels would go on a 5-1 run to give Meredith a (18-14) lead. A trio of errors from the Pacers would give a (24-21 lead to Meredith. WPU would cut the lead to two but Meredith would hold on to take the second set (25-22).
Set three would also be highly contested until Meredith went on a 8-2 run to pull away from the Pacers and extend their 13-12 lead to 20-14. The Pacers would continue to fight and come within 5 after two kills from McLendyn Weathersby but it would not be enough as Meredith would take the third set and finish the game.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Pacers have a quick turnaround as they host the Quakers of Guilford College (8-6) tomorrow night at 7:00pm in the Herman Athletic center. The two teams have already met once this season with the Quakers coming out on top three sets to two.
