Volleyball Takes Down Guilford College

RALEIGH, NC -- The William Peace University volleyball team defeated the Quakers of Guilford College, three sets to one (20-25, 26-24, 25-19, 25-19). The Pacers now improve to 11-5 overall.

Set one got off to an evenly matched start but the Quakers would pick up steam as they took a dramatic 19-10 lead after eight unanswered points. As the Quakers began to seal the deal, the Pacers went on a seven point spree after several big attacks from McLendyn Weathersby, to bring the score to 20-23. Despite the Pacer comeback, the Quakers took set one, 25-20.

Set two would prove to be a close contest throughout as both teams traded leads seven times throughout the set. With the game neck and neck, the Pacers capitalized on late errors from the Quakers to earn the 26-24 victory in set two.

The Pacers jumped out to an early 5-2 lead in set three after back-to-back service aces from Emily Braxton. The Quakers would takeover the lead shortly after with four unanswered points (7-6). The attack from the Pacers in set three would be too strong for Guilford, and the Pacers would go on to win, 25-19.
