Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University men's basketball team fell 80-72 to Piedmont College on January 6th, 2018. The Pacers now drop to an overall record of (2-9) and a conference record of (1-3).
The Pacers struggled in the first half offensively, shooting only 25.9% from the field in comparison to 40% for the Lions. Trey Bryant and Tyson Sellers led the team, notching 6 points apiece, with Sellers shooting 100% from the line. Justin Vallejo led Piedmont in the first half, with twelve points and six rebounds. Piedmont outrebounded the Pacers 25-17, especially on the offensive end of the court. WPU would head into halftime 40-25.
In the second half, Tyson Sellers opened up the scoring with two consecutive shots from behind the arc to keep the Pacers in the game. Tre McLean would add a point from the foul line to get the Pacers within 8 points (40-32). Piedmont would push back, attaining their greatest lead of the game (61-44) at 11:07. Tre McLean would score 13 points in a row for the Pacers to put them back in the game, and Tyson Sellers would put the team within 2 points (72-70) on a layup at the 1:06 mark. However, WPU ultimately fell to Piedmont 80-72.

The Pacers will play Berea College (KY) tomorrow, January 7th in another USA South Conference matchup. The 1 p.m game will take place at the Hermann Athletic Center in Raleigh, NC.
