Raleigh, NC-- The William Peace University women's basketball team fell to N.C. Wesleyan (74-39) on Saturday, January 28th, 2018. The Pacers now drop to an overall record of (3-13) and a conference record of (3-7).
N.C. Wesleyan took the lead early in the first quarter and continued to lead throughout the first half. DeJah Cheatham would bring the Pacers within 3 with a jump shot at the end of the 1st, sending WPU into the second trailing (13-10) The Pacers struggled to put points on the board, shooting only 18.8% from the field. Mikayla Ray would shoot 8-10 from the line, tallying 10 points in the first 2 quarters, but WPU would go into halftime trailing (32-22).
N.C. Wesleyan started off the third with a 6-point run before Mikayla Ray would add 2 from the line for the Pacers. The Battling Bishops would then go on a 13-point streak until the 3:10 mark, when Jayde Grant would add 2 with a jumper, but the Pacers would head into the fourth quarter trailing (62-30). N.C. Wesleyan would continue to command the game offensively, eventually winning (74-39).
