Pacers Fall On The Road Versus Hawks

Montgomery, AL-- The William Peace University Men's Basketball team fell to Huntingdon College on Sunday afternoon by a score of 62-75.

The Hawks would start the game with a 6-0 run before Sam Arnold put the Pacers on the board with a layup on a fast break. Both teams would go back and forth for most of the first half leading to five lead changes with neither team getting ahead by more than 3 points. Sam Arnold and Smith Gupton led the way for the Pacers with 9 and 8 points, respectively. The Pacers would go into the half leading 30-29 after a layup by Sam Arnold went through the hoop as time expired.

With the Pacers leading at the start of the second half, Huntingdon's Scotty Chadwick would hit a three and give the Hawks the lead. Tyson Sellers would answer right back with a layup to tie the game. Huntingdon would quickly regain the lead to answer Sellers and the Hawks would not trail for the remainder of the game. Tyson Sellers would finish the match up with 10 second-half points on 3 of 7 shooting. WPU would continue to keep it close before the Hawks went on a 12-2 run and pulled away with the lead. Sam Arnold finished with 13 points and 3 rebounds.

 

THE BREAK DOWN

  • Smith Gupton led the Pacers with 15 points, a season high for Gupton.

  • The Pacers shot 32.8% from the field.

  • The Pacers were out-rebounded by the Panthers 38-53.

 

FOR THE FOES

  • Brandon McLean finished with a double-double, 19 points and 11 boards.

  • Kyante Pines finished with a game high 22 points while going 13-13 from the line.

  • The Panthers shot 35% from the field.

 

WHAT'S NEXT

The Pacers (3-12) will return home after a long road trip and matchup against the Cougars of Averett University on Wednesday, January 17 at 7:30 p.m. Averett comes into the matchup 7-5 overall and 2-2 in the USA South.
