FAYETTEVILLE, NC -- The William Peace University men's basketball team was on the road Tuesday evening at Methodist University for a mid-week conference match-up. William Peace fell to the Monarchs 64-48 after a late rally by Methodist would send the Monarchs to victory.
Camden Ferguson put up the first points for the Pacers in the first half. Methodist held the lead for a majority of the half although Tyson Sellers shot was on fire with 12 points. It wasn't until 7:44 left in the half when William Peace tied the game at 18-18. Following a media timeout, Methodist scored quick. Davion Ayabarreno hit his third three of the night for the 4 point lead with 1:09 remaining in the first. Paul Dunlap inches the Pacers closer with a layup, but was answered by the Monarchs with a fast break layup by Bryan Rouse. The Pacers trailed going into halftime with the score of 32-25.
In the second half, the Monarchs came out on fire scoring the first two baskets. Trey Bryant scored first for the Pacers in the second half but following his two point shot, the Monarchs hit a pair of three pointers with 16:51 remaining in the second half. At this point the Pacers trailed 39-27. Camden Ferguson hit a three to bump the score within 9. Tre McLean stole the basketball with 7:22 remaining leading to a clutch three pointer by Tyson Sellers putting the Pacers within seven. Jumping to 4:22 left in the half, both teams exchanged multiple turnovers leading to Sellers getting fouled making one of two from the line. With the score at 54-44, Troynell Reese for the Monarchs had back to back dunks putting them ahead by 11. Reese had 13 points  on the night and led the Monarchs to a victory over the Pacers. The back to back dunks with under two minutes remaining were the turning points for the Monarchs. Although the Pacers kept the score within distance, the Monarchs held the Pacers off to a 64-48 victory.

Pacers face Lagrange college on January 13 at 4pm in Georgia. Lagrange has a record of 5-6 so they will be facing a tough William Peace team looking for a big win on Saturday afternoon.
