RALEIGH, N.C. - The WPU men's soccer team takes on the Valley Forge Patriots this Friday, at 6:30PM in their season opener at WakeMed Soccer Park. The Pacers are coming into their opening match with some momentum after defeating Shaw University in a scrimmage match last weekend. In the Sunday scrimmage, seniors,
Chris Deleon and
Isaac Kruger, contributed two goals each.
The Pacers will find leadership in seniors,
Chris Deleon,
Christian Ortiz, sophomore,
Junior Ayala. The team features 16 new players that are either transfer student-athletes or incoming freshmen. WPU men's soccer welcomed in two new coaches in
Ryan Huber and WPU men's soccer alum,
Ozzy Peralta.
Coach Huber had this to say about the Friday contest, "The team is very excited to play their first match Friday night against Valley Forge. They've worked incredibly hard during preseason in preparation for this match. The guys are ready to get a great 2017 season underway."
Following their game on Friday, the Pacers head to Winchester, Virginia to take on Shenandoah University on Sunday, September, 3, at 3PM.
