Box Score 2 RALEIGH N.C. -- Playing in beautiful 70 degree weather the William Peace University softball team upended NC Wesleyan, 7-0 in game one and 4-3 in game two on Saturday afternoon. The Pacers increase to 18-20 on the season.
Runs came up early for the Pacers. In the first inning Lindsey Wiggins and Heather McLean would advance on a string of singles. They would later score off a set of wild pitches. This gave the Pacers an early lead that the Bishops would not be able to overcome. At a score of 5-0 in the fifth inning the Pacers looked to continue their great start and brought home two more. The Bishops were unable to put up any runs in retaliation and the Pacers would end the game winning 7-0
Game two would start in the Bishops favor with them scoring one in the first inning. Another would be ripped deep to right field to put the Bishops up 2-0 by the third inning. The Pacers answered with a double by Jordan Criswell in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 2-1 with the Pacers trailing by one. In the top of the sixth the Bishops would rock a home run out into the street and make the score 4-1. Over the course of the rest of the game the Pacers put up three runs and kept the Bishops anxiety levels high up until the final out. Final score 4-3. The games would put the pacers at 18-20 on the season
The Pacers face Methodist University in a double header Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Raleigh, N.C. for their final home game and senior day for Lindsey Wiggins, Jordan Byrd, and Shay Poteat.
