Softball Goes 0-2 Against Rival Angels

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Pacers had a quick turnaround after a doubleheader yesterday, the Pacers traveled right down the road to face the Avenging Angels of Meredith College. Both games would go to Avenging Angels. The first one would end (10-2) and the second (7-2). The Pacers drop to (13-19) overall and (5-9) in conference.

In game one the Pacers were held to two runs on six hits. The two runs both came in the top of the fourth after  Kacy Haithcock delivered with an RBI single up the middle scored Heather McLean, in the same play Jordan Criswell would also score product of a throwing error for the right fielder. This would tie the game for the at two, as the Meredith went out on top in the bottom of the first inning off a two RBI single to left center. Meredith would take the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth off a Grand Slam from Brittany Bucklin. The Angels would add another two runs in the inning giving Meredith an (8-2) lead. The Pacers were held in the top of the sixth by the Angel's Taylor Jackson. In the bottom of the sixth Meredith would bring in two runs off an error from the centerfielder ending the game early off the eight run rule.

Game two saw Meredith continue hitting the ball well and scored five runs in the bottom of the first, three which were product of a three homerun from Katie Kepley. The Pacers would eventually get some runs on the board in the top of the third. Jordan Criswell  would drive in Lindsey Wiggins with a single to left field. Later in the in Criswell would score off a throwing error from the first basemen. That would be it for the Pacers in the run category as they were held by Angel's pitcher Julia Cresi who would pick up the win. Meredith would add an insurance run in the fifth. The game would go scoreless for the rest of the game. Kelsey Durham went the distance but would pick up the loss moving her to (10-11) for the season. Final score (7-2)

The Pacers return home this weekend for two conference doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday against Agnes Scott College at 1pm and 3pm and Sunday against Wesleyan College, this will also be the Pacer's Pink Game starting at 1pm.
